Our Christmas was a little different this year.

Started off, with me leading a multi-ward choir, for our Christmas Sacrament meeting.

I've been trying to be productive lately. So here's what I've been up to:

Grandma Dawna has some beautiful wrapping paper from several years ago. She gave them to my mom and my mom let me look through them. I chose a beautiful stack and didn't know what to with it. I didn't want to use it for it's original purpose, so I decoupaged in on 14x18in canvases. Now I have some original art to hang in my house. Not the 'coolest' thing ever, but I really like how they turned out!

Then I've had a few requests to make some of the super fun and cute bags. So here are the latest ones:

Family Vacation in San Diego

We went to the Auberry Ward Annual Pancake Breakfast for the 4th this year. We all enjoyed the 7am breakfast and especially the traditional kids parade.

Rustic American Flag Tutorial

I've had a few (Michelle) requests to make a tutorial of the flag I made and posted earlier.

Here it goes:

Supplies needed:

7- 1x2x8 planks of wood

(roughly $1 each)

3 cans of spray paint (1 red, 1 white,1 blue)

(roughly $3 each)

1/8 in shams

50 vinyl stars

(roughly $2)

Screws

Drill

Cut a total of 13 38in pieces

(You will have left over pieces of wood and will need them later)

Paint, both sides, 6 boards white and 7 boards red

When dry, tape 4 red and 3 white together. Place tape 16 inches from edge.

Paint Blue

Sand all rough edges and this makes the wood look more weathered and rustic.

When dry, lay all boards in desired striped arrangement, turn them over, and add 1/8 shams

Clamp together to keep in place

Use left over wood from step 1, as back supports. Add screws and mounting hardware.

Cut and arrange 50 stars, stick to board, and you have a finished product!

Finished product for under $20!

Have fun!

I've decided to start teaching Lily more of the alphabet. She can sing the song but now we're going to start 'recognizing' each letter.

So, I made her own little classroom and we'll focus on one letter a week. I know we're only on 'A' but she seems to be really enjoying it!

Lily and I had the great opportunity to go to "The South" for a week. We spent a few days at my brother's house (Mike) in Atlanta and a few days with our very good friends (Carl and Kristen Gaufin) in Alabama. Here are some pictures of our journeys:

Brian's Birthday Gift

Brian was VERY close to his Grandpa Hatch. Grandpa Hatch owned a cattle ranch and had a special, prized bull. There has been a painting of this prized bull floating around for quite some time so I finally got it professionally framed. I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out!

(May seem silly to some, to frame a painting of a bull,

but it's something that's very dear to Brian's heart!)

So I've been using coupons a lot lately! Here's my latest deal:

2 Purex 3-1 laundry detergent sheets, 2 Shout stain removals, 2 Windex, 1 Lysol cleaning product, 2 Magic Erasers, 1 Gain dish soap, 1 Glade air freshener, 2 Glade candles, 4 air freshener cones, 2 boxes of Puffs tissues, 2 packs of Dixie paper plates. With all my coupons I got all of this for $19.73 while saving $84.42! I also got $13 store credit to use at a later time!

(you have to remember Rite Aid has higher prices to start with, but it's still fun to see the savings!)

Latest Craft Project

I recently made these two table runners for friends. I think they turned out quite cute! I'm actually starting on a larger one that I'm going to hang over my bed, as a headboard. They were a little tricky at times because so much of the work was sewn by hand. But I'm very pleased with the outcome!

Tulare World Ag Expo 2011

We went to the Tulare World Ag Expo.

It's a place where there's all kinds of agriculture supplies, tractors, cars, feed, etc. ANY thing about agriculture was there!

Lily was in LOVE with the tractors. She cried every time she had to get off one.

We enjoyed many free samples, especially the chocolate milk!

Brian test drove a Toyota 4Runner and got a free hat!

Couldn't leave without getting a BBQ Tri-Tip sandwich!

Brian and Lily are in the big tractor, hard to see them with the glare.

By the way, 6 years ago, our very first date, was to the World Ag Expo. It was fun to go back with Lily!

Spilled Milk?....... Think Again

We've all head the saying; "Don't cry over spilled milk"

But is it okay to cry over scrambled eggs?

My mother-in-law stopped by to drop something off. While I got caught up talking I could hear Lily doing something in the kitchen. I didn't think much of it. I had just cleaned the kitchen. There wasn't anything out on the counters that she could damage. But apparently I had forgotten to lock the fridge (again!). I walked around the corner and this is what I saw!

I asked the culprit what she was doing. This was her response (word for word):

"Look Mommy! I did it!"

Me: "What did you do?"

Culprit: "I cooked! and it was yummy!"

(While clapping her hands and licking her lips)

Let's just say eggs are NOT my favorite thing to clean up!

And yes, eggs were cracked into the Brita pitcher and yolk was running down the side of the fridge where some must have been cracked!

I had Lily lay on the sidewalk and I traced her body. Then we took turns coloring and adding 'body parts'. (DO NOT judge my artistic skills! Lily is 2 and doesn't know the difference in terrible and awesome art.)

All scribble markings were done by her: fingers, toes, knees, eyes, nose, mouth, hair, cheek, chin, dress, etc. We had so much fun doing this!

We are so happy to be closer to family for special times like this! Our little Lily is turning 2! We had almost all her family there, the exception of Uncle Mike and his family in Georgia, Uncle Scotty on a mission in Brazil, and Great-Grandma Moore.

We had brunch: Monkey Bread, Egg Casserole, and a variety of Fruit

Finally, some pictures from our trip to Hawaii

We stayed on the island of Oahu, in Waikiki.

We stayed at a resort, the 24th floor of 40 stories.

We snorkeled, we explored, we sunbathed, we ate fish (neither one of us like any kind of seafood!), we slept in, we hula danced, and so much more.

Bee Stung Lily

Last night, Lily was bitten and stung by a meat bee.

Right after it happened.

Right before she went to bed.

Right when she woke up the next morning. (much more swollen!)

After church, in her new dress Grandma Gail made.

She's doing well and doesn't seem to be bothered by a swollen eye!

And yes, we're giving her Benadryl to help with the swelling.

Zion National Park

After Brian finished he job in South Jordan, we went down to Zion National Park. Brian had been there once, several years ago, and Lily and I hadn't We sure enjoyed ourselves!

Brian had a job in South Jordan, so Lily and I went with him. We stayed over the weekend, so on that Sunday we decided to drive and walk on the grounds of a few temples. Here they are:

We decided to go for a little hike at Lake Tahoe. It was ended short because it rained on us. But we enjoyed it while it lasted. Instead of hiking around the lake, we drove around the entire lake and got ice cream at a great, little ice cream shop! Perfect Saturday for the Moores!

On our way home from the family reunion, we stopped in SLC to meet up with some friends and walk the grounds of Temple Square. It's been 5 years since we'd been there last.

Brian's family had a reunion in Birdseye, UT. There were approximately 70 people there for the 4 day event. Family came from California, Nevada, Utah, Louisiana, and Missouri.

It sure was enjoyable!

My dear friend Emily and her husband Ira are moving to Logan, Utah. We've only known each other for 2 years but we became very good friends real quick! I'm going to miss her terribly! Lily will too! Emily and Lily were pals!

California Trip Weeks 1 & 2

Lily LOVES playing at grandma's house! Loves playing in the yard pulling weeds (and flowers too!), playing dress up, and being a clown. She's been quite happy so far, I hope it stays this way for our remaining 2 weeks of our first trip to California this summer!

My little brother Scotty, went through the temple in preparation for his mission. We were so fortunate to be able to attend with him. Doesn't he look like a missionary?!
